Greetings Everyone

Hi everyone, welcome to my first blog post! In case you missed the “Hi, I’m Jade” section on the homepage, my name is Jade-Rose (Jade for short) and I am about to start my study abroad journey in Melbourne Australia. I gotta say, I never expected to go study abroad. I’m a homebody and rely heavily on my friends and family as my support system. Oftentimes I’ll ask them to do simple tasks on my behalf because I’m too shy to do them myself. Yet, here I am, counting down the days until I fly halfway across the globe and live on my own for the next four months. As for why I chose to study in Australia, I’ll get into that in another post.

Some of you might be wondering, “Jade, why have you decided to create a blog?” Well, I chose to start this blog as part of a scholarship requirement, but also because I’ve been interested in blogging for a while. I think it’s a fun way to capture moments of my life, while being able to share it with others and to also look back on them in the future. With all the photography that I do, the website also offers a platform where I can share some of these pictures and allow others to live vicariously through me.

For the past couple of weeks, I’ve been trying to build this weblog from scratch. It’s certainly not the most professional looking, but I’m still trying to work out the details. In fact as I write this, I’m using this opportunity to test out some of the website features and figure out the best way to organize everything. I’ve never actually built a website before, so please bear with me for all the future changes I might make as I try to make it look more visually appealing for you readers. I’ve been looking at other travel blogs, trying to get a sense of how they structure and design their websites. In doing so, I realized how little I know about traveling and how much of an amateur I really am at doing these kinds of things.

So, If you’re someone who is expecting top-tier travel tips, I’m afraid I may not be the best source. That said, I still welcome all who stumble upon my blog, even if most of you are probably friends and family who I’ve forced to follow. But if you’re new here, please stick around for the ride, maybe you’ll discover something new.
